Mabal is the Blaan term for the abaca weaving process. Tabih is the term for the finished hand woven cloth and it also refers to the traditional Blaan tubular skirt. Natural dyes from endemic plant species in the community are the source of colors for different designs of this indigenous textile.

"Tabih" as Best Documentary of RMMC Liberal Arts student
4 months of community immersion for one of the students at the Ramon Memorial Colleges, Mary Valente, resulted to a memorable night with Fu Yabing and her daughter Lamina Dulo Gulili being honored during their Liberal Arts(LA) Fest 2015.
Highlight of the event as shared by Leonardo "Bing" Carino, - "Auntie Lamina giving Mary her medal. She went up in behalf of Mary's family who were not able to attend. The film "Tabih" won for Mary best sound editing, best musical score and best director. When it is time for her to receive the best documentary award, Fu Yabing joined her in accepting the award. I think I saw the Blaan ladies teary eyed. They were happy for Mary."
This is the first in the history of the Mabal Tabih in Landan to have a full blown documentation from start to finish...in this case, for the Tabih Gnandong Dafeng. This is also the first time that an academe honored Fu Yabing for her work.
Congratulations to Mary Valente for garnering the Best Documentary Award for her work "Tabih".
Bong salamat to Bing Carino for paving this Tabih research linkage to RMMC students.
